How to apply Statorade
This guide explains a clean method for applying statorade to a common Lonnyo 60H hub motor.
Before you begin
Statorade can improve heat transfer from the stator to the motor shell, but too much can increase drag and create leaks. For more information check the product page at the official website.
warning
Only buy authentic Statorade! Do NOT buy normal ferrofluid as this will dry up and clogg your motor leading to excessive wear!
Tools and materials
- Original Statorade from Grin Tech
- Hub motor
Preparation
- Power off the scooter and disconnect the motor.
- Let the motor cool down fully.
- Remove the motor from the scooter.
- Clean the motor side cover area so no dirt can enter during opening.
- Open it by unscrewing the sidecover.
- Push the stator out of the rotor.
- Inspect the inside for moisture, rust, or debris. Clean and dry if needed.
Application steps
- Apply a small ammount of statorade between each pair of magnets.
- Apply the statorade to the air gap area around the stator in a thin, even ring.
- If needed, add a small additional amount and repeat the rotation.
- Reassemble the side cover and tighten bolts in a cross pattern.

Post-install checks
- Spin the wheel by hand and listen for rubbing or unusual noise.
- Run a short low-speed test ride.
- Check motor temperature for improvements.
Troubleshooting
- Excessive drag after application: You likely added too much. Open the motor and remove a small amount with a syringe.
- No noticeable thermal improvement: Ensure the fluid reached the stator/shell gap and is distributed evenly.
Notes
- Keep statorade away from bearings and connectors.
- Avoid overfilling. More is not always better.
